LET'S GET LOST - SHOW+ING EXHIBITION

I am sure visiting exhibitions is one of the extracurricular activities for all the students like me. After visiting many different modern art exhibitions I finally got an invitation from a Chinese art exhibition. The Show+ing exhibition got a great debut last year and comes back with more than 10 different artists presenting their development and changes while staying the the UK. It's a great chance to have a sneak peek of the Chinese modern art today.

Jennifer Yang is a Textile Design student from CSM. Her creations have been seen in different competitions and exhibitions. This time she created a handcraft installation to share fun with the visitors. I really love the colour combination of the piece that displays differently in multi way.

Tao Jing studied Furniture Design in CSM. Products being shown in Milan, Jing has also been to Japan and Germany for exchange programme. She brought her felt clock and USB designs to the exhibition. The contrast of the raw materials of the USB and the actual high-tech function impress me. It's not the first I saw the similar idea but I love the way she present the wood. well made but still natural.

Yirantian Guo is one of the BA graduate from LCF this year. Her signature is deconstruction sustainability. The graduate collection "Un-" explores reality and illusion through reflecting materials and asymmetric silhouette.

I am sure Yifang Wan gained much exposure in the previous CSM MA show and I don't really have to introduce her at all. The previous overall winner of the BA show, Yifang's pieces have been featured in many big publications. The sculpture like accessories are the core of the collection. I really like the contrast of them with the garment which are full of fluidity.

A part from the ones I've mentioned, there are also Liling Wang's LED accessories, Jiamin Liu's animation "If We Meet" and the characters' models, Yiqing Zhang's photography work about the life of the Chinese single women. I also like the work from Tienan Yang and Owen Patterson. Their "You are what you eat" created a set of Chinese food with western package which show the actual differences between culture of the east and the west.

Just pop down and spend some time to explore more about the exhibition with your Jubilee long weekend! The exhibition is opened until Friday!

Exhibition address: SW1 Gallery, 12 Cardinal Walk, Roof Garden Level, Cardinal Place, London SW1E 5JE
